CONTRIBUTE TO OUR LONGITUDINAL STUDY
Collecting data on suicide and drug related deaths in the LGBTQ+ community
Many of us have lost friends, partners and loved ones to suicide and/or a drug-related death over the years. Yet little is being done to address this silent epidemic.
Each person who tragically loses their life prematurely has their own unique story, life experiences and personal circumstances: it’s difficult to generalise. It’s also understandable that family and friends might be hesitant to the idea of “reducing” the death of their loved one to a number and a statistic, as a death to be analysed and categorised together with hundreds of other possibly related sudden premature deaths. But it’s important that we do, as suicide and drug-related deaths often share many of the same underlying contributary factors.
By contributing to our study you provide us with invaluable data on this silent epidemic. This will help us prevent further suicide and drug-related deaths from occurring in the future, by achieving our four main goals:
-
Evidence the high prevalence of suicide and drug-related deaths in our community.
-
Eliminate the prevailing stigma attached to suicide and drug-related deaths.
-
Address patterns of behaviour associated with suicide and drug-related deaths.
-
Address the underlying factors contributing to suicide and drug-related deaths.
